Specialty Decaf Coffee Beans

Our new decaf coffee comes from Armenia in the Region of Quindio, the second smallest department in Colombia, but thanks to a high concentration of coffee producers, Quindio is one of the key production districts in the country.

This El Eden is a blend from 16 entrepreneurial farmers. The name itself comes from the venue ‘Rancho Eden’ where the group would hold regular meetings to discuss best practices, business challenges and opportunities.

Coffee when harvested is brought to the Racafe mill in Armenia, where it is sampled, cupped, and graded. The overall blend profile is managed by a separate cupping room facility where consistency and quality are maintained.

Picking from their mainly Castillo and Catimor planted fields, the coffee is typically wet processed the same day as picking and dried on either ‘Casa Elba’ Patios, drying beds either on rails themselves or with a roof that is on rails to protect from weather, or mechanical driers.

  • Tasting Notes: Caramel, milk chocolate & stewed apple
  • Origin: Coulumia
  • Region: Armenia, Quindio
  • Process: Swiss Water Process

Natural Decaffeination Process

This coffee is first shipped to Vancouver for decaffeination through our friends at Swiss Water. Here the coffee is soaked in a proprietary Green Coffee Extract (GCE), that allows the caffeine to seep out without removing too much of the flavour.

Specialty Coffee Ground

If you'd like these beans freshly ground please leave us a note (fine, medium or coarse) in the "special instruction" box in the cart.

Zero Waste Specialty Coffee

These beans are roasted by our neighbours and are supplied in a closed-loop system which means the tubs in which it is supplied to us are collected and reused. And because it's so local we do this on a push bike 🚴‍♂️

Ingredients & Allergens

Ingredients: Coffee beans

For allergens see ingredients in bold.

Due to the way our food is stored and packaged, this product may contain traces of other allergens due to cross-contamination.

Storage

Your beans’ greatest enemies are air, moisture, heat, and light.

Store in an air tight container in a dark, cool, dry place. A cabinet near the oven is often too warm, and so is a spot on the kitchen counter that gets strong afternoon sun.

To keep the great flavour, use within 1 month. The coffee will keep for up to 6 months but the flavour won't be as good. See best before date.
