Medjoul Dates
Medjoul Dates
Palestinian Medjoul Dates
Medjoul dates - also spelt Medjoul - are called the king of dates for good reason. They are totally delicious.
Each date contains so much fruit meat and has a rich, almost caramel taste. Their soft, chewy texture and hard skin make them an excellent choice for both smoothies and snacking!
Each centre has an elongated pit, which is easy to remove.
Cooking with Medjoul Dates
Remove the stone and eat as a quick snack or use in savoury or sweet dishes.
For a night but nice treat, dip them in melted chocolate and sprinkle superfoods on top while the chocolate is still warm – think goji berries, raisins, almonds, chia, flax, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds.
For a straight-up decadent treat, remove the pip and stuff with dark chocolate and peanut butter. Place in an oven for a few minutes and serve hot.
I like to use dates to make energy bliss balls as these dates make an excellent binder. Blitz your choice of nuts, pitted medjouls and other dried fruit in equal measures in a food processor until it forms a thick paste. Then roll into balls, cover in desiccated or shredded coconut and pop in the fridge, or enjoy as they are.
