This gluten free pea mince absorb loads of flavour and retain a firm texture. They are made using yellow peas from East Anglia which means they are also super high in fibre and protein.

What Is Pea Mince?

This mince is processed yellow peas. But unlike many other processed foods, these only contains peas!

It is designed to be a replacement for meals that traditionally use mincemeat like bolognese, chilli, tacos, lasagne, cottage pie, curries etc.

As well as being made from a simple, nutritious ingredient this pea mince is bucking the trend for plant-based meat substitutes to be overpacked in single-use plastic and presented like meat in a fridge. 

Not only is this mince supplied in reusable packaging, it also rehydrates to three times its original size!

How To Cook

How To Cook Pea Mince

This mince needs to be rehydrated for 20 minutes at a ratio of 3/1 (boiling liquid/mince) before it is added to sauce.

Doing so will make it three times its original size (so don't worry about the smaller crumbs, they will get bigger!). 

I would recommend rehydrating in stock (our Organic Vegetable Bouillon is perfect) but it can also be done in just water.

Great cupboard staple

Handy for doing lasagne, pasta dishes and other things. And it's good that it's UK grown peas, and minimal processing unless some of the frozen ones.

First time trying….

I love the sunflower mince but this is just as good if not better, love all these pea based products ZWBF have. Great gluten free item if you have an intolerance or allergy. Would highly recommend the pea chunks and panko breadcrumb too

Our new go to mince meat alternative

After trying our way through different supermarket mince meat alternatives after trying out the pea mince this will be the only alternative we’ll be using. It’s super convenient coming in dried form and being able to very quickly prep the amount we need rather than having to rely on a prepacked package size. The taste is great - it absorbs flavours very nicely and gives a nice texture that would be very similar to mince meat. Plus: no plastic packaging in sight!

Great Alternative

Very happy I have discovered this alternative to mince meat. Super healthy and easy to cook with, you do need to add basic flavours like garlic, salt, pepper, soya sauce etc to enhance it absorbs flavours really well. It has a real mince meat texture, I just made meat balls with it and it held together well.
